Why we built it
Finding a safe, honest place to park in an Indian city should not mean circling the block or gambling on a lot you have never seen. The space usually exists — it is just privately owned, unlisted, and invisible to the driver two streets away who would happily pay for it.
So the problem is a matching problem, not a construction problem. We connect drivers with real, verified spaces, and we give the people who own that space a simple way to list it, stay in control of it, and earn from it.
How the marketplace works
Owners list a space with photos, a price they choose and the hours it is free, and declare that the space is theirs to let. Listings are moderated before they go live and stay blurred on the map until a driver spends a credit to unlock one, which protects owners from having their address harvested.
Drivers search what is near them, filter by vehicle type or EV connector, unlock the space they want, and either reserve it or drive straight to the pin. QR check-in at the gate starts and ends the session so both sides hold the same record of it.
How we make money — and how we do not
ParkingNearby does not take a commission on parking. The price on the listing is what the driver pays and what the owner receives, settled directly between them at the space. We earn in two places instead: drivers buy credits in packs, and owners pay a yearly plan to keep a listing live.
That choice is deliberate. A commission model gives a platform a reason to raise prices and to sit in the middle of a payment it adds nothing to. This one leaves the transaction where it belongs and keeps our incentive on making the match work.
Built for India, in ten languages
The app runs in English, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Punjabi. You choose your language when you sign in, before anything else is asked of you, and every screen after that is in it. Language cards show each language in its own script first, so someone who does not read English still recognises their own.
Coverage is national and deepest wherever owners have already listed. If nothing appears near you yet, tell us — demand is how we decide where to grow next.
